A hook display sells one unit at a time, but it sells a lot of them. Pegboard and hook fixtures let a shopper grab a single item without disturbing the stack, which is exactly why they dominate accessories, electronics, toys, sachets and seasonal impulse lines. The engineering problem is rarely the hook itself — it is the panel behind it, the spacing between hooks, and whether the unit still stands square after a thousand items have been pulled from the top row.

Two ways to hang product
The first is a true pegboard panel: a rigid sheet punched on a standard pitch so steel or plastic pegs can be repositioned as the assortment changes. It is the right choice when the client expects to re-merchandise, or when the retailer standardises on peg pitch. The second is a die-cut hook panel: hooks are cut into the board itself at fixed positions. It is cheaper, lighter and prints edge-to-edge, but the layout is locked at the die.
We build both, and increasingly a hybrid: printed corrugated body with a reinforced pegboard face, so the display reads as full-colour brand while the hooks remain adjustable.
Hook geometry and load
A hook spacing of 25 mm is common for small accessories, 38–50 mm for blister packs and toys. Hook length should be at least the depth of the product plus 20 mm so the item can be removed without forcing. The real load is not the average item — it is the heaviest SKU placed on the top-most hook, because that hook’s moment arm is the longest.

Why hook panels sag — and how we stop it
A hook does not load the board vertically; it pulls the panel forward and down, which is the worst possible direction for a thin flute. The first symptom is a bowed front face, then hooks that will not stay seated, then a unit that leans. Three fixes applied together solve it: a double-wall or laminated panel on the loaded side, internal horizontal reinforcement ribs that carry the moment back to the rear frame, and a wider base or casters to stop the whole unit translating forward as shoppers pull.
Project reference: making a hook stand mobile
A toy brand needed a double-sided hook display for hundreds of small blister-packed SKUs, but store owners refused it because a loaded stand was too heavy to drag when they cleaned or rearranged the shop. The drag itself damaged the base and loosened the hooks. We redesigned the base to accept commercial casters, moved the load path through a reinforced spine rather than the outer panel, and kept the double-sided faces so the same footprint held twice the SKUs. The result was a display small retailers would actually reposition, which extended its working life well past the original promotion.

Pegboard & hook FAQ
How much weight can a pegboard display hold?
Plan on 0.5–3 kg per hook for a corrugated panel, with heavier loads confined to the lower rows. Metal-backed or PVC panels take more. The safe total is set by the base and spine, not the peg count.
Can hooks be repositioned after production?
On a true pegboard panel, yes — any peg pitch position is available. On a die-cut hook panel the layout is fixed, but we can cut multiple positions at the sampling stage before the die is made.
Do you supply the hooks?
Yes. We supply metal S-hooks, flat scanner hooks and plastic clips, and we can specify the panel pitch to match hooks the client already owns.
Can a hook display attach to existing shelving?

Is a PVC panel better than corrugated for hooks?
PVC resists moisture and repeated hook wear better and is the right call for outdoor or damp environments. Corrugated is lighter, cheaper and prints beautifully for indoor programs.
