Project Background: Merchandising a Digital Icon
When selling toys and puzzles based on a world-famous IP like Plants vs. Zombies, standard shelving isn’t enough. Our client needed a promotional Pallet Display for a new series of game puzzles.
The goal was to move the digital excitement of the game into the physical retail space. The display needed to hold a large volume of puzzle boxes while capturing the chaotic, fun, and colorful energy of the characters.
The Challenge: Breaking the “Boxy” Mold
Most floor displays are rectangular and flat. However, the client felt a standard “box” would fail to attract children’s attention in a crowded toy aisle. They challenged One Plus Display to create a structure that felt “alive” and “three-dimensional,” without requiring expensive permanent materials.
Our Solution: 3D Layering & Irregular Structures
To achieve the “Pop-Out” effect, our structural designers used advanced Die-Cut Technology (异形模切工艺).
- Irregular Edge Design: Instead of straight lines, we cut the edges of the base skirting and shelf headers to follow the contours of the game characters (zombies, sunflowers, and vines).
- 3D Visual Depth: By layering these irregular cut-outs over the main body, we created a shadow depth effect. The characters appear to be “jumping out” of the display, making the entire unit look lively and animated.
- Sturdy Engineering: Despite the playful look, the core is a heavy-duty stacker structure capable of supporting hundreds of puzzle boxes.
Step-by-Step Assembly Guide
Despite the complex 3D appearance, the assembly logic remains logical and user-friendly. Below is the installation process from the factory floor.
Phase 1: The Base Foundation
We start with a reinforced cardboard base. The skirting is printed with high-definition graphics and features the unique irregular cut-outs.

1. Unboxing: Components are flat-packed to save shipping costs.

2. Setting up the internal structural base card.
Phase 2: Applying the 3D Skirting
The magic happens here. The printed “fence” skirting is wrapped around the base. Note the irregular top edge of the grass and stones—this die-cut detail eliminates the rigid “cardboard box” feel.

3. The custom die-cut skirting ready for attachment.

4. Wrapping the base to create the immersive game environment.
Phase 3: Final Structure & Stocking
The upper tiers are stacked securely. The final result is a vibrant tower that draws the eye immediately.

5. Installing the main product holding body.

6. Completed Assembly: A sturdy, lively display ready for merchandising.
The Result: A Retail Magnet for Kids
The display was more than just a shelf; it became a destination in the store.
- Engagement: The 3D irregular edges made the characters pop, leading to children stopping to look at the “scene” and interacting with the products.
- Brand Consistency: The perfect color matching and structural shape perfectly mirrored the game’s UI, satisfying the licensor’s strict brand guidelines.
