Project Background: The Battle for Counter Space
In the beauty and cosmetics industry, the checkout counter is the most valuable real estate in a retail store. Our client, a premium skincare and haircare brand, needed a compact but impactful Cardboard Counter Display (also known as a PDQ) to launch their new product line.
The display needed to hold multiple product types—tall shampoo bottles, short serum droppers, and facial cream tubes—all within a very limited footprint.
The Challenge: The “Hidden Logo” Dilemma
The client had one strict, non-negotiable requirement: Brand Visibility.
Often, when a multi-tiered display is fully loaded with products, the tall items in the front block the branding printed on the back panel. The client presented us with a 3D rendering and demanded that their golden brand logo be positioned exactly in the negative space (the gap) between the tallest bottles.
They needed a Custom Cardboard Display manufacturer who could guarantee that the physical product would match the 3D concept down to the millimeter.
Our Solution: Millimeter-Perfect Structural Design
At One Plus Display, we know that great printing is useless if the structure is wrong. Here is how we engineered the perfect presentation:
1. The Stepped Tier Insert
We designed a custom stepped insert (staircase structure) to elevate the smaller products (serums and tubes) in the front, while keeping the taller pump bottles in the back. This ensured every single SKU was easily accessible to the shopper without hiding the products behind them.
2. Precise Logo Mapping
Instead of guessing, we requested physical samples of the client’s actual products. Our structural engineers mapped out the exact dimensions, calculating the viewing angle and the precise width of the gap between the two large bottles. We then calibrated our printing die-lines so the golden logo was stamped exactly in that visual corridor.
Visual Proof: From Empty Structure to Perfect Display
The following images from our sampling department demonstrate the exact execution of the client’s vision.
The Structural Canvas
First, we built the structure. Notice the clean lines of the stepped tiers and the strategic placement of the golden logo on the back panel and front lip.

Front View: The empty PDQ showing the custom inserts ready to hold products.

Side View: Demonstrating the slanted side panels for optimal product viewing.
The Perfect Alignment
This is where the engineering pays off. Once the client’s samples were loaded, the logo appeared perfectly framed by the product bottles, exactly as the 3D rendering promised.

Loaded View 1: The golden logo is perfectly visible in the gap between the bottles.

Loaded View 2: Every product is secure, and brand identity remains uncompromised.
The Result: Brand Visibility Achieved
By treating cardboard engineering with the same precision as plastic or acrylic manufacturing, we delivered a POP Display that exceeded expectations.
- Client Satisfaction: The brand received exactly what was approved in the 3D phase—no compromises, no hidden logos.
- Retail Success: The compact, elegant design allowed the brand to easily secure placement on crowded pharmacy checkout counters, driving significant impulse purchases.
